Surcharge is not included. Illustrative arithmetic, not tax advice.
How the calculator works
- Profit is the sale value minus the cost of acquisition. Nothing else is deducted.
- Tax is 30% of the profit, plus 4% cess on that tax. Surcharge is not included.
- If you leave the TDS box empty, it assumes 1% of the sale value was deducted.
- If the trade made a loss, tax is zero and the loss cannot be used anywhere else. See Bitcoin losses.
For several trades, run each sale separately and add the results. Losses on one sale do not reduce the tax on another. The method for matching buys to sales is covered in tax on a Bitcoin SIP.

Common questions
Does this include surcharge?
No. It shows 30% tax plus 4% cess. Surcharge applies at higher income levels and depends on your total income.
Does the calculator store my numbers?
No. The arithmetic runs in your browser and nothing is sent anywhere.
