Yes, you can buy Bitcoin with ₹10 a day in India. On Unocoin, a Systematic Buying Plan (SBP) can start from ₹10 and run daily, with a 0% SBP fee. Over a year that is ₹3,650, spread across 365 separate buys. Each ₹10 buys a small number of satoshis, the units Bitcoin divides into, at whatever the price is that day.
What ₹10 a day will not do is promise you anything. Bitcoin's price can rise or fall sharply, and a plan can be worth less than you put in. What it does well is quieter: it builds a habit, it teaches you how Bitcoin behaves with money small enough not to keep you up at night, and it removes the question of when to buy. Here is the arithmetic, the mechanics and the honest limits.
What ₹10 a day adds up to in rupees
The rupee side is plain multiplication:
- One month: about ₹300, across 30 buys.
- One year: ₹3,650, across 365 buys.
- Five years: ₹18,250, across 1,825 buys.
That is the money put in, not the value. The value depends entirely on Bitcoin's price, which nobody can predict, including me.
For comparison, the same ₹3,650 a year could be ₹500 a week (₹26,000 a year) or ₹5,000 a month (₹60,000 a year) for people at a different stage. The size of the plan should come from your budget, not from excitement.
What it buys, in sats
Every bitcoin divides into 100 million satoshis, or sats. That is 10 crore sats in one Bitcoin. So you never need to buy a whole coin, and ₹10 is a perfectly normal purchase. It just buys a small number of sats.
The calculation is simple. Sats bought = ₹10 divided by the price of one Bitcoin in rupees, multiplied by 10 crore. When the price is lower, ₹10 buys more sats. When it is higher, ₹10 buys fewer.
I am not going to put a price into that formula here, because a price in a blog post is out of date by lunchtime. Instead, the home page of IndiaBitcoin shows a live counter: how many sats ₹10, ₹100 and ₹1,000 buy right now, at Unocoin's live price. Look at it today, and again in a month. Seeing the number move is part of the education.
This is also why a daily plan works the way it does. Because the rupee amount never changes, you automatically pick up more sats on the cheaper days and fewer on the expensive ones. That is rupee-cost averaging. It smooths out the effect of volatility on your average price. It does not remove the risk that the price falls and stays low.
Why ₹0 SBP fees make this possible
At ₹10 a buy, fees matter more than they do at ₹10,000.
On Unocoin, an instant buy carries a 0.5% fee plus 18% GST on the fee. On ₹10, that would be five paise plus GST. Small, but it is a charge on every single buy, 365 times a year.
SBP trades on Unocoin carry a 0% fee. That is what makes a ₹10 daily plan a sensible thing to run rather than a gimmick. INR deposits by IMPS or NEFT are also free. Check the fee table for the current schedule.
Replay it in the Time Machine
If you want to see what a ₹10 daily plan would have looked like in the past, IndiaBitcoin has a tool for exactly that. The SBP Time Machine lets you pick an amount from ₹10 to ₹10,000, a frequency (daily, weekly or monthly) and a start month from January 2016.
It then replays the plan against real daily BTC/INR closing prices from Yahoo Finance, cross-checked against CoinGecko, and shows you the total put in, the Bitcoin accumulated and its value at today's live price. It also draws a line for a fixed deposit at an assumed 7%, which is labelled as an assumption.
Two things to keep in mind when you use it. First, it is a look backward, not a forecast. The past says nothing certain about the next five years. Second, try different start months. A plan that started right before a big fall looks very different for a while from one that started right after. That is useful to see before you commit, because it shows you the kind of stretch you would need to sit through.
How a daily plan is taxed
Buying Bitcoin is not a taxable event in India, whether you buy once or 365 times. Tax arises when you transfer it: sell, swap or spend.
When you do sell, the rules under the Finance Act 2022 apply: a flat 30% tax on the gain plus 4% cess, 1% TDS on the sale value above the threshold, no set-off of losses against other income, and the sale reported in Schedule VDA. Each daily buy is its own purchase with its own date and cost. The law does not set a method for matching sales to purchases for VDAs; many tax tools and advisers use first-in, first-out. Ask your CA which method they will use.
The practical point: a daily plan creates a lot of small records. Keep the full statement of every purchase. Our page on tax on a Bitcoin SIP covers it. General information, not tax advice.
What to watch in your first month
If you start a small daily plan, use the first month as a course rather than a bet. Check the statement once a week and see 30 separate buys at 30 different prices. Compare the number of sats bought on the cheapest and the most expensive day. Notice how you feel when the total value dips below what you put in. Write down any question you cannot answer, and ask it before you change anything.
Habit, not a promise
Here is why I like tiny daily plans, and it is not about what they might be worth.
I discovered Bitcoin around 2012 in Bangalore and started a meetup soon after. In my experience, the people who understood it best were not the ones who had read the most. They were the ones who had used it: bought a little, sent a little, watched it move, asked questions at the next meetup. Learning by doing, with an amount small enough that mistakes were cheap.
₹10 a day is that. It is the price of a cup of chai. You will learn how a plan runs, what a statement looks like, how the price moves day to day, how the tax records pile up, how it feels when the number on the screen drops. All of that is worth knowing before you ever think about larger amounts.
Some honest guardrails:
- Only run a plan with money you could leave alone through large swings.
- You can change or pause a plan anytime, but decide in advance what would make you do so.
- Nobody can guarantee Bitcoin's price. Anyone who promises returns is telling you something they cannot know.
- Crypto products are unregulated in India and can be highly risky; there may be no regulatory recourse for any loss.
- Never share your OTP or password. No genuine support team will ever ask for them.
If you have read this far and a small daily plan still makes sense for you, setting one up on Unocoin takes a few minutes after KYC. Read our Bitcoin SIP page first if you want the full picture.
Common questions
Is ₹10 a day too small to matter?
In rupees it adds up to ₹3,650 a year. Its main value is learning and habit with an amount small enough that mistakes are cheap. Nobody can say what it will be worth.
Are there fees on a ₹10 SBP?
SBP trades on Unocoin carry a 0% fee, and INR deposits by IMPS or NEFT are free.
Can I increase it later?
Yes. You can change or pause an SBP anytime from your Unocoin account. Decide any change based on your budget, not on recent price moves.
How is a daily SBP taxed?
Buying is not taxable. When you sell, the gain is taxed at 30% plus 4% cess, 1% TDS applies on the sale value above the threshold, and losses cannot be set off. Keep every purchase record and check with a CA.
